Jaw dropping performance, January 3rd, 2014
I switched from my 300/300 Gigabit router to this unit all four of my ROKU 3 units started performing as advertised. No slow downs etc. I haven't even begun to push the envelope with this unit. I am currently running 4 PCs and 1 Mac (server) along with two NASD 4 TB each 2 printers (wireless) 8 hard wired Security cameras long with 4 wireless cameras, Movies on demand from the server to the entertainment center and my home automation software/services. The range on this is at least two fold over my last Linksys router, which is now set up 2nd inline of downstream routers. I love it! No more arghs and watching a bogged down movies.

Pleased with results, January 4th, 2014
From day 1 of CenturyLink internet installation I had considerable trouble maintaining wireless connection to my laptop, wireless printer and television connections (both the Direct TV connection and the TV connection (Panasonic Veira). Finally brought a computer technician over to troubleshoot he recommended an additional router to provide the wireless account for those devises. I chose the EA6900. Since installation of this router I have experienced flawless performance from the wireless network.

Supporting the "Connected" House, December 28th, 2013
This Linksys EA6900 SMART WiFi AC Router Dual Band 2.4 + 5 GHz is the BEST router I've ever owned. It is a little pricy but well worth the cost as it should work for years. Having 3 separate LANs is really great. There is a 2.4 GHz Guest LAN, a regular 2.4 GHz LAN and the 5 GHz LAN for doing lots of Data Streaming. Rather than loading up my old router and slowing it down with tons of data streaming traffic, I decided to go with a router built to handle the chore for normal home owners with the potential of having lots of electronic toys added on, web cams, Roku's, etc.. This is the router to buy if you are looking for the "connected house" environment.

Almost 4 stars, December 10th, 2013
I bought the EA6900 as a replacement to a SMC router I had been using for about 14 years. Reason, I wanted to be wireless on 5GHZ because my 2GHZ sound system interferes with my network. I am on the second EA6900. The first unit developed problems that Linksys techs said would require replacing the unit. So far the second unit is working. Linksys' support group I would give 5 stars for swapping the unit out with me. I am worried about future problems as I spent a considerable amount of money for this router. It should have a life time replacement warranty. I hope my review gets posted. I believe in honesty.

Excellent AC Router Period!, December 5th, 2013
This router is EXTREMELY EASY to set up. It took me under 30 minutes to have ALL my devices connected. My iPod Touch 4th Gen could never be used outside my home (in my yard) with my old DLINK router (DGL-4500). Now with the extended range of this one, I can be at my neighbors yard and still have access to my router. Speed increase is very noticeable. I am on Docsis 3.0 (50Mbps down & 10Mbps up) so there is plenty of bandwith for all my equipment. The guest option is a big plus! When the baby sitter is over, she can now access the internet without me worrying about the security of my own computer and files. It is also a great looking router (to me it matters) and compliments my gaming rig!

Thank you for developers of Linksys products, I use the Linksys EA6500 router since January 2013, and I'm happy now if you will give a suggestion on the new Linksys EA6900 concernat antennas, I think it is wrong designed, I prefer if they was a little long and very fine. Example: Router CISCO Model SA500. Thank you very much.

This is a fantastic router when configured correctly, October 24th, 2013
I purchased ($199) the EA6900 router and some wireless adapters at Best Buy and set it up easily. However, my network speed on both the 5 GHz and the 2.4 GHz was 144 MBPS; the same as my Linksys E3000! At one point we had no internet connection and I reset the router which did not fix the problem and then reset my cable modem which got the same speed back. I called the Linksys support and Grechen ID29464 ended up helping me as follows. It turns out that one should NOT reset the router if there is a problem, do a power recycle, i.e. pull out the power plug for 15 seconds and reconnect. It took almost two hours because of some computer issues on my end but Grechen hung in there cool and calm walking me through every step and getting everything configured exactly right, which included changing some settings, resetting the router up again, etc. Bottom line: my 2 year old desk top computer is running at 867 MBPS using the Linksys wireless adapter WUSB6300 in a USB 2.0 port with Windows 7 Professional, an 8 year old laptop using the same wireless adapter in a USB 2.0 port is running 760 MBPS with Windows XP Professional, and a three year old computer is running at 300 MBPS using the network card (E3000 speed was 144 MBPS with same set up) in the computer with Windows 7 Pro all on the 5 GHz band in a 4300 sq. ft. contemporary (high ceilings, lots of space) house. I also set connected two iPhone 5Ss, a Smart Samsung TV, and two Smart DVD players all through the 5 GHz band. We are quite pleased with the router once Grechen helped me get it optimized in terms of speed. Worth every penny in my opinion and the free support back is just great.

Nice product, easy to setup., October 25th, 2013
Was a snap to setup and coverage is excellent throughout the house. I have three floors and I have good to excellent signal everywhere. I even have good access on my deck where I did not have any with my SonicWall Firewall at the highest signal strength. The Guest access is really handy when friends come over. The mobile app is handy when setting up WiFi Protected devices from other rooms. Would recommend highly.

Met the high speed internet requirements, October 20th, 2013
Previous Linksys router was not handling the 50megs plus of internet speed. Was only getting 18 to 20 megs on my computers through the Internet Speed Test. Am now getting 48 to 49 megs. Works great with my smart TV's and video streaming. Everything hooks up to new router just fine. My wireless printers love it too.

not working for what purchased for, October 14th, 2013
I bought this router for the intent of cascading to my att uverse router to improve performance and to give me the opportunity to have a usb hard drive attached to it which is The primary reason why I brought it. I have 2 laptop computers hooked up, a sony vaio laptop intel I5, gateway laptop and seagate freeagent 1TB external HDD, wired, running windows 7, to it so my system is not complicated. Speed of the laptops are not the issue here. The setup prior to this was fine and working with no issues. The internet from this router is good and so is wireless BUT the transfer speeds moving files to and from the usb drive is extremely slow....90-95KB per sec rate slow. This is unacceptable!. I have tried numerous setting but no change. No sense calling tech support since they charge you. I read on the forums that this will not change and this is normal. This router cost me $230.00 and tonight I will take it off line and put it back in the box and go back to my previous setup and since I cannot return it I will try to sell it to someone for a fraction of the cost. This is not very good for a company like yours to sell something that does not deliver only to find this out after the sale. Your specs do not mention transfer rates to and from the usb HDD. PS: I did notice that your 5 star reviews did not include usb transfer issues to/from a pc to the usb hard drive thru the router.

Good, Not Great, October 10th, 2013
Set up was easy, and signal quality and strength are great. However, there seems be an issue with how the router prioritization is working. I had an issue with dropping internet speeds on my LAN connected TV buffering when streaming movies. I never had this issue with my previous Linksys/Cisco wireless N router. I thought it was my internet connection, so I had them come to my home and test it. It was perfect 30Mbps, they told me the router was reducing the speed. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Linksys support doing many speedtest.net tests on many connected devices and they confirmed the router was the cause of the reduced speeds and recommended turning off the prioritization, which helped but was still slower than my current Linksys router, and this is why I bought this router...the Smart part. There seems to be a lag switching between multiple connected devices ( holding one connection low like 1 mbps, and reducing band with on the other connections. Then eventually kicking in and balancing the band allocation)to the connected devices. It could be a software bug. I hope they fix it fast.

Excellent upgrade from my previous Linksys router., October 14th, 2013
Great upgrade to my system. Easy to install, big range/signal improvement. Surprised by the greatly improved signal using the N band and can't wait to get an A/C device to use with it. No issues other than a minor annoyance of having to reset the router 2 or 3 times per week; but haven't determined whether the cause is the router or the source.

Worthwhile Upgrade, October 14th, 2013
Excellent replacement for my three year old Cisco E4200. I was experiencing some "dead zones" in the house and thought about a range extender. When I saw the news release for the AC1900, I checked out the features and decided to give it a try. Installation was a snap. Easiest router installation to date. The "dead zones" were eliminated and can stream through the house with ease. Highly recommended.

Expected better, October 11th, 2013
The router works, but I expected a better range - 25-30 feet and the signal becomes spotty. It sets up private and guest access and you can do traffic shaping, but as far as being "smart" I expected more inclusions and features for the premium price paid. I bought this so I wouldn't need extenders - it's a disappointment.

impressed with new router, October 13th, 2013
This new model really has been a great investment. Got it setup and running. Did experience one setback where lost access to internet. Spoke with tech support and made a modification to channels and so far so good. The 5g option works well on the newer computer, but it did nothing for an older computer on XP. It wanted to continue running at 2.4g which was still improvement due to better signal coverage. The improved wireless coverage was very good compared to my older E2000 router so that was great improvement. Now all the add on's buy this usb connection for other stations gets costly. you can move that one around but affraid of possible loss or forgeting in what machine I have it in which is neccessary for allowing access to the 5g portion. But still very happy with improvements and product. I recommend the upgrade to anyone.

Range goes through concrete wall in Jamaica , October 13th, 2013
Purchased for house in Kingston Jamaica. Jamaica houses are made of pure concrete about 1 foot thick. Inner walls are of same construction. Needed a strong router to penetrate concrete walls for Netflix video streaming. Expect a six feet range on opposite side of block walls. This was good enough for sister-n-law to get netflix video streaming in her bedroom wifi tv. She is happy. Download speed is fast. Thanks Linksys support for helping me set it up. Linksys support also gets 5 plus stars.

Quick and painless setup., October 12th, 2013
I recently just upgraded from an older E4200. The EA6900 is easy to use and meets the needs of todays demands. Though I plan on upgrading other hardware on my network... the EA6900 worked just fine with my older switches throughout the house. I've had no problems with the Wi-Fi either, smartphones and both new and older laptops worked just fine finding and connecting to the network form both sides, LAN/WAN. I use RDP allot to... that worked as expected as well. I'd recommend this to others.

It installed pretty easily though I was more familiar with the older ones. I was expecting Cisco Connect and now everything is through the SMartWiFi interface on the net. I am very disappointed in my WiFi Calling performance on my Galaxy SII phone. I get intermittnet dropping of my calls and this is not good when I am on Conference Calls and such. Hope to work with Support to get this corrected. Solid WIFi signal to PCs and other devices.

Good upgrade. What happened to NFC?, October 12th, 2013
Setup was quite simple. I really like the addition of the external antennas. I do NOT like the removal of NFC, and the lack of an additional USB3 port. Since USB3 is downwards compatible, it amazes me that they did not make the other port USB3 as well.

So far I have it working fine with connecting all my wireless devices - 2 smart tv, 2 wi if blue ray players 2 laptops and ipad & smart phones . Some reason Ipad has lower speed. Lynksys apps on smart phone is great. The only inconvenience is I still have to connect to computer to activate the router and any time I move router to another room it still ask me to connect via computer to connect wifi...other than it deliver the same speed as wired connection I tested on fios quantom with 59mbps over wifi same as wired connection.

Excellent performance, easy setup., October 11th, 2013
Setup was easy, performance is great and I am not aware of any problems. Two things I would change is to have the Media Center option not under USB settings and not have MAC address filtering limit Guest access. I have a Seagate 1TB external drive attached to the USB 3.0 interface and have Windows 7 Backup using it for output. I have not yet implemented folder security as there are only two systems on my home network with access.

Improved Range and Speed, October 11th, 2013
I replaced my EA4500 with the new EA6900. Immediately saw a substantial improvement in 2.4MHz range. The AC band is incredibly fast, but right now is limited to the few devices that support it (my HTC One phone does). I am still disappointed in the range of the 5MHz signal (same as with EA4500), so have limited it to devices in the same room as the router, like my SlingBox. I was always reluctant to give up the old direct, web page interface to the router, but the latest LinkSys Smart WiFi interface has finally convinced me.

I have been a Cisco/Linksys fan for many years. Started installing Cisco products at work 20 + years ago. When they purchased Linksys they took a product which was already great and made it even better. The EA6900 is a work of art. Love the new user interface and fast speeds. My only wish would be adding port and wireless activity lights to the top as with the E3000 series. Other than that I give it 5 stars and two thumbs up.

Great Wireless Performance with Easy Setup, October 11th, 2013
The setup on the EA6900 Router is a major breakthrough. You can do it from the configured wireless network it is shipped with. I configured mine via ethernet cable since I had specific wireless names and passwords I wanted to retain. The setup was quick and accurate. I tested the wireless throughput and it was over 4 times that of my previous Linksys (E4200) which easily carried HD. Coverage was extended to the point that I no longer needed a range extender in my entire house. This router rocks!

I had a simple linksys wireless router which did work non-stop for 3-4 years in a row. I was looking for something that would support the new 802.11ac as well as has some of the features that will allow me to operate remotely. I just moved into a large house, and had problems getting proper wifi coverage inside and in the backyard. Tried various routers with repeaters, but nothing was good or stable. I then installed the EA6900, and i now have very good coverage inside my whole house (two story house, 8600 sqft) and also in the backyard. I do not need to use any repeaters. I have it set up with a USB HD to share media files, and this works very well also. The router was easy to set up, and i now manage if from my Iphone with the app. I higly recommend this router to anyone.

This was so simple to set up. It took this 60 year old lady less than five minutes. It linked flawlessly with my existing Linksys Range extender which takes it to the garage and beyond. SSID Broadcasting, October 11th, 2013
This an awesome router and the installation process was without any complication. The only drawback is that it does not allows for inhibiting the broadcasting of the SSID. Online chatting was very helpful. However, they indicated that Linksys does any any longer support the option to block the broadcasting of the SSID. Tey suggested to choose a strong password. Unfortunately, removing the boradcasting option is equal to removing another layer of protection.

Quick and easy setup, excellent performance, October 11th, 2013
I put the EA6900 into an increasingly wireless environment in our condo. It replaced an E2500 that was still serviceable, but limited. Using the same WEP code as the E2500 had used, I set it up and then installed it in place of the old unit. Everything came right back up and has been humming along since then. The wireless device count in the household is now over 25, from smartphones to tablets and Kindles to IP video cameras to AirPorts, Rokus, and Chromecast. And the occasional computer. Everything runs fast and signal coverage (even in a concrete-and-steel building) is excellent. Happy, happy, happy.

Works as Advertised, October 11th, 2013
Purchased this router as a replacement for both our standard AT&T access point and an iBoss wireless access point that our children use. The purpose of the iBoss was to limit (with hardware, not software) what the kids can access. It worked well but was woefully underpowered. However, it was a very comprehensive and finely manageable solution for content filtering and time access. The EA6900 allows device-by-device time restrictions, as well as content filtering, with the caveat that the filtering is provided by Norton and is NOT finegrained. You choose one of three levels--that's it. However, assuming you can live with their levels (plus manual blacklisting; we are giving level 2 a test now), it seems effective and hassle free. And the performance is very good. We have 22 devices (laptops, kindles, dvrs, game machines) showing right now, all working fine. And 4 or 5 bar signal strength throughout the 3K sq-ft 2-story house. Happy with it so far.

Linksys EA6900 and Bridge , October 7th, 2013
I was having some connection issues with my old WRT54GS router in my new home. The house is pretty large, new construction, 2 stories and about 2900 sq ft. So I tried the signal boosters, which did not help at all. So I decided to upgrade my hardware to the wireless AC type. Went with this router and the WUMC710 AC bridge so I did not have to upgrade the wireless card in my desktop or get one of those shady usb network cards for my laptop. I have a 100 MBps connection through Comcast, and my pre upgrade speed tests were ~15 to 20 MBps DL and 11 MBps UP. My post upgrade speed tests were between ~75 to 80~ MBps DL and 15 MBps Up. The only problem if you want to call it that was the setup of the bridge was not as easy as it could have been, and the routers channel is set to AUTO, which.. in some cases may not choose the best channel for your install. I changed my channel number until i found the one that worked best in my home. I now get perfect signal everywhere in my home! Perfect!

Set-up Couldn't Be Easier, September 26th, 2013
I'm using the EA6900 in a small business, and the coverage & signal strength is outstanding. The set-up process couldn't be easier! Just a couple suggestions that are mentioned in the instructions: Initial connection should be done using an Ethernet cable and not wireless; When setting up the online account, make sure it is on the same computer that is connected to the router, and not another device (i.e. another computer, phone, etc.). It is better to not go wireless until set-up is complete.
