Overview

Used to be, if you wanted to experience FPV (First Person View) flight, you had to piece
together a system yourself. Once you did, you then had to figure out how to make everything
work together. The Spektrum™ VS1100 Ultra Micro FPV System eliminates all the
guesswork by giving you everything you need in one box. Camera, headset, batteries,
charger - it’s all there, all compatible and can be ready to go in minutes.
Spektrum VA1100 Ultra Micro FPV Camera
This amazing bit of Spektrum technology combines an FPV camera, transmitter and antenna
in a single unit no bigger than a thimble. Installation is easy and can be done in seconds.
No soldering or special skills are required. You simply attach it to your model and plug
in a 1S battery (sold separately). A Y-harness connector is included if you want to eliminate
the weight of a separate battery and power the camera with the same 1S flight battery that
 powers the aircraft.
  • Signal range suitable for ultra micro aircraft
  • Compatible with 5.8GHz Fat Shark headsets
  • Requires 1S LiPo battery, sold separately
  • Powered separately or by aircraft battery
  • No 2.4GHz RC interference
  • No FCC license required
  • Installs in seconds
This headset accepts a diopter insert to accommodate those who wear glasses. The Headset
Diopter Insert Kit includes one pair each of Diopter inserts rated -2, -4, and -6 dpt.
Fat Shark Teleporter V4 FPV Headset
Developed exclusively for Horizon Hobby by Fat Shark, the Teleporter V4 headset is easily
one of the best values in FPV fun. It’s compatible with all Spektrum
and Fat Shark 5.8GHz FPV cameras and features:
  • QVGA 320 x 240 LCD displays
  • 5.8GHz wireless receiver
  • Spironet RHCP antenna
  • Digital head tracking for Spektrum FPV cameras
  • Trainer link head tracking for gimbal controlled cameras
  • 760mAh 7.4V LiPo battery with charger
  • Lens cloth
Digital Head Tracking - A Horizon Hobby Exclusive
One of the coolest features of the Teleporter V4 headset is digital head tracking. Digital head
tracking lets you look around the environment your model is flying through without the extra
weight and complexity of a mechanical camera gimbal. Special sensors and software in the
headset allow you to pan and tilt your field of view using the fixed-position VA1100 camera
that’s included. It’s just one more way this Spektrum FPV system lets you have more fun with
fewer hassles.
NOTICE: The VR1100 headset has provisions for an optional diopter insert which comes
in a pack of -2,-4, and -6 rated lenses (FSV1805). Some people who require a positive
prescription have no problem seeing the screens, but we have received reports from some
users who require a positive prescription and faced difficulties seeing the screens.
You cannot wear glasses with the headset, so if you require a specialized or positive
prescription lens, consider either contact lenses, or consult your optician for a quote on a
custom lens insert to suit your requirements before purchase.

New hopes for the team of Fritz 15 with the new member for its team Vasik G. Rajlich

"New author, new engine
Vasik Rajlich is new to the Fritz team. The American shook up the world of computer chess just a few years ago, reaching the top with his program, “Rybka”. He is the author of the new Fritz 15 engine, so there’s no question that it will be one of the world’s strongest!"

Vasik G. Rajlich,
a Czech-American (born 1971 in Cleveland, Ohio)

For the new chess player that does no familiar with this giant of the chess engine developer; He was the creator of Rybka a very powerfull chess engine and winner of the top prizes back on 2007

History of Rybka 1.0 and beyond

2005

  • Rybka 1.0 Beta is released Dec 5 as a free download, and after a week the "Rybka 1" series becomes available on a subscription basis. About 13 "beta" versions of Rybka 1.0.1 were released over the next few months. Rybka 1.0.1-Beta-(x)? competed (as Rybka beta) and won first place in Paderborn (December 27 2005) [13].
  • The first commercial version, Rybka 1 end of 2005.

2006

  • On June 10 (date from RybkaChess FAQ about Rybka 2.x), the MP-only Rybka 2.0 Beta is released. The date on various executables are Apr 23 (Beta 8) and May 17 (Beta 4).
  • Rybka (under the name Rajlich) competed in the 2006 ICGA Chess Tournament [14]
  • Rybka 2.1 was released Jul 26, 2006.
  • Rybka 2.2 was released Nov 10, 2006.
  • Rybka 2.2n2 was released Dec 14, 2006. All these dates are from the RybkaChess FAQ about Rybka 2.x (though that page seems to disappear every now and then).

2007

  • Rybka 2.3 was released in late Feb 2007 (?). There was an "LK" version that had minor differences.
  • A few more "2.3.1 beta" versions also appeared around this time (again including Kaufman's latest material imbalance numbers). The Rybka 2.3 evaluation function appears to retain the numerology from Rybka 1.0 Beta. Rybka 2.3.1 starts to make a few changes (due to Kaufman?) in the numbers, though keeping the structure largely intact.
  • Rybka 2.3.2 was released Jun 13, 2007, and 2.3.2a about 5 days later.

Won ICGA Tournaments

Here I will insert an interview made to Vasik ,notes from https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com/Vasik+Rajlich

Interview

Quotes from an uciengines.de Interview with Vasik Rajlich, December 20, 2005 [28]a new age in Computerchess? Two questions by Alexander Schmidt:

20. Alexander Schmidt:
The increase in playing strength of the latest chess engines is unbelieveable. We have since some time with Fruit 2.1 by Fabien Letouzey a very strong open source engine. Do you see a relation between the published sources of such a strong engine and the increase of strength in computer chess in general? How much influence do the ideas of Fruit have on the future of computerchess?

Vasik Rajlich:
Yes, the publication of Fruit 2.1 was huge. Look at how many engines took a massive jump in its wake: Rybka, Hiarcs, Fritz, Zappa, Spike, List, and so on. I went through the Fruit 2.1 source code forwards and backwards and took many things.

It is a bit of a pity that Rybka won't make the same contribution to the computer chess community, but at the moment I must also think about protecting my secrets. It's the eternal struggle for a computer chess programmer.

21. Alexander Schmidt:
We had our first contact when I had questions about a similarity to Fruit in the search, others found similarities in the evaluation. Some people where a little bit suspicious that Rybka could be a clone of the open source engine. In the meantime it is clear that Rybka is no clone but you used ideas of Fruit (I guess all other serious engine programmers had a look at Fruit too). How strong would Rybka actually be if the Fruit code would have never been published?

Vasik Rajlich:
It's a good question. I don't want to get too specific about which ideas from Fruit I think are really useful, but they fall into two categories:

1) Very specific tricks, mostly related to search.
2) Philosophy of the engine (and in particular of the search).

Fruit could really hardly be more useful along both of these dimensions. Fabien is a very good engineer, and also has a very clear and simple conception of how his search should behave.

Anyway, if I really had to give a number - my wild guess is that Rybka would be 20 rating points weaker had Fruit not appeared.

In resume I dont blame his talent but i will ensure something that this guy will make fritz to go to the top 5 in the next 3 years from my date now

Komodo won again the best chess engine for 2015

Komodo Is Computer Chess Champion Again
Written by Alex Armstrong
Monday, 05 January 2015
After its recent win in Season 7 of the TCEC computer chess tournament, Komodo has become the latest world champion and taken top slot in the computer chess rankings.

ccrl

The Thoresen Chess Engines Competition (TCEC) tournament, organized and maintained by Martin Thoresen, gives chess programs the opportunity to go head to head with each other. Each Season is divided into several Stages and lasts about 3-4 months. The winner of the Season will be the TCEC Grand Champion. Season 7 completed in December 2014 and was won by Komodo with 33.5 to 30.5 points in the Superfinal between it and Stockfish, the Season 6 World Champion. Komodo had previously won Season 5 and prior to that Houdini, now ranked 3rd in the Computer Chess Rating List (CCRL).

komodo8

Komodo started in 2007 as a joint project by programmer Don Dailey and chess grandmaster Larry Kaufman, who was a member of the team that created Rybka 3, which was the world's strongest chess engine at that time. It is a commercial program and you can buy the latest version, Komodo 8 for $59.96 while an earlier version, Komodo 5.1, is free to download. Komodo 8 is available for Windows, Linux, Mac and Android. It is a chess engine and not a chess GUI and therefore requires a third party graphical user interface such as Arena, Chessbase or Fritz.

stockfish

The other finalist Stockfish is a free open source chess engine, developed by Tord Romstad, Marco Costalba and Joona Kiiski, that is available for Windows, OS X, or Linux on the desktop and also runs in both iOS and Android devices. It too requires a compatible GUI.

It is now over 17 years since Deep Blue beat Garry Kasparov and while that may have been a fluke at the time - a bug in Deep Blue's program caused the program to make an unexpected move that Kasparov found disconcerting and may have put him off his stride - it is now generally accepted that the best chess programs are superior to the best humans. This is due both to improvements in algorithms and to the speed of computers.

According to K W Regan, writing on Godel's Lost Letter and P=NP:

"Ten years ago, each doubling of speed was thought to add 50 Elo points to strength. Now the estimate is closer to 30. Under the double-in-2-years version of Moore’s Law, using an average of 50 Elo gained per doubling since Kasparov was beaten, one gets 450 Elo over 18 years, which again checks out. "

Long Range Biquad Yagi Antenna

5 8GHz Double Biquad

Published on Mar 28, 2015
In this video I will show you my method of constructing a 5.8GHz double biquad antenna using single layer PCB. This design also uses semi rigid coax to make mounting the antenna much easier. The biquad has 13dbi gain with a 50 degree beam so when used with an omnidirectional biquad it will give excellent signal over a long distance.
The template can be downloaded here:
