Be aware of your children playing this game suicide "the blue whale"

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term Blue Whale game (Russian: Синий кит, Siniy kit) refers to a trend on Russian-speaking social media, linked to a possible increase in child and teenage suicides,[1] though no suicides have been definitively linked to the game.[2][3] There have been photos of self-cutting wounds shared on social media alongside the game's hashtags.[4] The term "Blue Whale" comes from the phenomenon of beached whales, which is likened to suicide.
The game is based in the relationship between the challengers (also called players or participants) and the administrators.[5][6] It involves a series of duties given by the administrators that players must complete, usually one per day, some of which involve self-mutilation.[7][8] Some tasks can be given in advance, while others can be passed on by the administrators on the day, the last task being suicide.[9][10]
The game was created by Philipp Budeikin, a former psychology student who was expelled from his university. Budeikin stated that his purpose was to "clean" the society by pushing to suicide those he deemed as having no value.[11][12][13][14][15] Blue Whale began in 2013 with "F57", one of the names of the so-called "death group" of the VKontakte social network.[16] It is believed that the first case of suicide related to the game occurred in 2015 in Russia.[7][17]

The phenomenon has provided fodder for conspiracy theorists, some of whom claim it is an organized campaign run by Ukrainian nationalists.[18]
